I am so glad I had my children when I was younger. Sam and I made the choice to be young parents. It's not like the decision was made impulsively or we weren't ready. When I met Sam, he was 32 years old. I was 20. We dated for a couple of years and I knew he was the one for me. He was at a stage in his life where he was ready to settle down and give marriage and parenthood its best effort. In hindsight, I can say we both have! Having kids in my early twenties wasn't a struggle because I was full of energy. I didn't have to work for the first few years, which was a blessing. My mom and dad were a terrific help, too. Had Sam been younger, it might have been different. But he already had a career and sense of maturity that he brought to our little family unit. I've always respected his parenting style and when I've disagreed, I've let him know it. Raising our two boys has been a joy-not without it's difficulties, of course.
