I stopped eating red meat about 20 years ago. At the time, it wasn't a political statement. It was more about taste. I really have always disliked steak. Once in a blue moon I'd get a craving for a burger, but it was more about the cheese and bread because I would eventually take out the meat. Back then I didn't announce my anti-meat diet to anyone because there was always some type of judgment or backlash of a snide comment. But I will say, over the years, my non meat-eating proclivity has become somewhat political. I really have trouble with making food we really don't have to have to survive, especially when it costs the lives of unwitting animals. I know people can make the same argument about plant-based diets-that we are using too much water resources to grow a head of lettuce. Everyone will have an opinion. For me, however, my awareness of foods and products has grown. So along with my not eating cow-meat, I decided to try and stop wearing cow suede or leather. It's difficult to find good shoes, bags, and jackets that are as warm and classy-looking as genuine leather. AdriannaPapell.com has faux-leather jackets that are stylish and chic. Currently, the site has a design that is fabulous. The color is trendy, but I don't particularly care for it. Although the site offers choices of materials I am comfortable with wearing, I would like it if there were more options.
