10 Tips For Teenagers About Wearing Makeup

Are you teen lass? Most girls that I know can’t wait to be able to wear makeup and look older than they are. The main problem is most teenagers don’t know how much they should wear, especially if Mom doesn’t wear much makeup. All they see in magazines is models who have extreme makeup to look good for the cameras or runway. My Mom only ever wore lipstick so I had little idea about other makeup products and how to use them. I have developed these tips to help all young girls with their makeup. Some of these tips I still use now and my skin is looking good with few wrinkles, at least compared to some of my girl friends who slept with makeup on and didn’t use sunscreen.

1. Cleanse
Before applying any makeup products make sure your hands and face are clean. Find a good cleanse that suits your skin type and clean your face well. You can use a mild exfoliating cream or scrub once a week to help keep that acne and blemishes under control.
2. Moisturizer
It is important to start a skin regime early and to get used to cleaning your face properly to avoid as much acne and blemishes as you can. Just because your skin is oily doesn’t mean that you don’t use a moisturizer. One with a light tint can be good if you think your skin is pale looking and want a bit more color and you don’t want to wear a foundation. You should also use a separate sunscreen for your skin type as the one in moisturizers is usually very light protection. It will also help stop those wrinkles that come with aging.

3. What to do
If you want to use makeup but are unsure what will suit your skin type visit a department store with beauty counters. Find a woman whose makeup you like and ask her for tips and products. She will explain what each product does and how you should use it. She will also try some colors on you to find out the best shades for your skin and skin type, be it oily, dry or a combination.
4. Foundation and concealer
Using too much foundation can be bad for your skin as it will block the pores. You don’t even need to use a foundation if you don’t want to. You might just want to use a concealer to cover up any spots or breakouts and uneven skin tone. If you do use a foundation pick one that is a shade lighter than your skin tone. It will look a lot more natural and that is what your aim should be.

If you suffer from oily skin that looks shiny, use a powder instead of a cream. It will look dry and not oily. I suffered from oily skin and found that powder is wonderful. I always carried it in my purse for that quick touch up during the day.

If you just want to cover up those dark marks under your eyes and the odd blemish just stipple the foundation or concealer under your eyes with your middle finger and smooth out by dabbing. Don’t rub or you will take off what you have put on.

5. Blusher
Apply blusher to the cheeks and blend in a circular motion. Don’t use darker shades but a softer lighter pink tone can give that fresh rosy cheeked look.

6. Eyes and eyebrows
Taking care of your eyes and finding a product that doesn’t irritate and inflame them is important. I can’t wear some popular brands of eye shadow because after a while my eyes become dry and itchy. If your eyes do get sore wash off any makeup immediately.

If you want to wear eye makeup everyday stick to neutral colors that will highlight your eyes rather than sparkles or bold colors. If you use eyeliner don’t outline your whole eye as this will make it look smaller just apply to one lid to emphasize your eyes.
To make your eyebrows look fuller use a brow brush with eye shadow that matches your eyebrows. You can set your eye brows by spraying your brush with hair spray or using a small amount of gel.

7. Lipstick or lip gloss
I always used lip gloss as I didn’t know what color I should use in lipsticks. The range was daunting and I didn’t what that huge color block on my face. Now that I am older I have found a great color that I like and use when I go out. If you are at school all day just take a light colored lip gloss in your bag and reapply throughout the day. If your lips get dry and cracked from dry winds or cold weather lip stick will make them look worse. You will find that your color choice will change as you get older and a bit bolder.

8. Don’t share makeup
Always buy and use your own products. That way you won’t get any allergies from products you don’t use or have not used before. It is also possible to get infections from using other people’s eye shadow.

9. Mascara
Mascara was scary to me as Mom never wore it. I liked the look on other people and wanted to try it. If you have pale eyelashes like me and want them to frame your eyes mascara is the product to use. I can’t wear eyeliner but I always wear mascara when I go out. It is not a necessity but it will change your look.

10. Always remove makeup
One of the most important tips I ever was given was to always remove any makeup before I went to bed. Any makeup, even the lightest foundations can clog the pores of your skin and make any acne problems worse. Find a good makeup remover or facial cleanser and clean your whole face and apply moisturizer.
