Power Rangers is an action packed children’s television series that first debuted in August of 1993. The show features six crime fighting costumed heroes who discover they have the power to fight against evil forces. Since its first launch on Fox Kids programming in the 1990s, Power Rangers have created their own brand with multiple on screen performances and a line of action figures. With over 17 television seasons and two theatrical films, the Power Rangers have become a common name in every household.
Power Rangers History
Created by Haim Saban and based on the 16th installment of a Japanese franchise known a Super Sentai, Power Rangers had seen overnight success. On July 18, 1995, the Power Rangers’ first movie, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers the Movie: Secrets Revealed aired. The series has gradually changed over the years and has introduced new characters as well as lost others. Power Rangers was originally owned by Saban Entertainment, but has been sold and is now produced by Disney.
The Power Rangers have been described as teenagers with attitude who have been chosen to defend the earth against evil foes, which include the "emperor of all that he sees", Lord Zedd, and the evil Rita Repulsa. They also have "Zords" to help them fight. The ranger zords are their robotic vehicles that morph together when a foe is truly difficult to battle.

Ranger Colors
The original cast of Power Rangers included Blue, Pink, Red, Yellow and Black. Such as the series itself, the color palette of the Power Rangers has changed over the years. The only colors that remain constant in the Ranger team include Blue, Red and Yellow. Other colors that appear in certain episodes include Pink, Green, Black, White and metallic shades. The Rangers costume colors also affect their wardrobe choice. Their normal clothing is usually of the same color of their costume.

Power Rangers Television and Movies
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is the longest running series in its franchise running three seasons from 1993 to 1995. Then in 1996, ‘Power Rangers: Zeo’ used footage from Chounki Sentai Ohranger to feature the first costume change in Power Ranger history Power Rangers: Lost Galaxy aired in 1999 and introduced a complete new cast of characters to play the Rangers. This season lead to the crossover episode where the old and new Power Rangers team up to fight the enemy.
Distributed by 20th Century Fox, the Power Rangers series produced two theatrical films. The first film, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie was released on June 30, 1995. Produced by Bryan Spicer, the film made a total of $66,433,194 in box office revenue. While their second film Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie produced by David Winning didn’t do half as well as their first, Turbo produced a total of $9,615,840.

Power Ranges Toys and Games
The Power Rangers brand has evolved into comic books, games, toys and a line of action figures. Playstation and other major video game producers have created Power Ranger based games such as ‘Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue’, ‘Dino Thunder’ and ‘Super Legends’. As the popularity of the Power Rangers has grown, so has the merchandise. Fans can find their favorite characters in play vehicles, electronics, play-sets, dress-up, stuffed animals, construction sets, ride-on vehicles, puzzles, dolls and crafts.
One of the more popular Mighty Morphin Power Ranger toys is the single action figures of the Rangers. You can also find complete sets of the original set of Rangers as well as special edition characters such as the White Ranger. Milton Bradley produced the colorful Mighty Morphin Power Rangers board game which is sure to be a collectors item in the near future. The series even brought about various sets of trading cards. The ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Series 2 Trading Cards’ featuring five classic trading cards per pack remain popular among Ranger fans.
